Starmer’s contribution to the war on Gaza

The war did not start in Rafah.

And the war did not start on October 7th.

There has been a 100 years war on the Palestinians.

Starmer calls for a ‘ceasefire that lasts’.

That’s what we all want, but Starmer is being duplicitous.

Starmer’s call for an immediate ceasefire is bogus.

In fact it is worse than his previous position calling for a ‘pause’, for which he was ridiculed. That did not depend on an illusory surrender by Hamas, just a gap in fighting to allow in humanitarian relief. His current position does not even allow for that.

He knows like everyone else that Hamas are not going to surrender.

‘A ceasefire that lasts’ is a position he adopted after consulting with the Israeli President Isaac Herzog and US secretary of state Blinken at the Munich Security Conference in February of this year.

Will Starmer jump

Will Starmer jump?

Biden has launched a 3-phase peace deal, similar to what Hamas offered in May. Under pressure from his base and fearing the impact of his War on Gaza, he accepts that Hamas cannot be defeated, what the CIA said months ago. How will Starmer respond. He has taken the lead from Biden so far.

Our MP – Sir Keir Starmer

When Keir Starmer set out his position in the War on Gaza at Chatham House in October 2023, 7,000 men, women and children had already been slaughtered.

He openly opposed a ceasefire and has maintained that position throughout the war – victory to Israel.

He supports moving 1 million people out of Rafah before destroying that too.

Gaza Death Toll since Starmer opposed a ceasefire

Another 27,000 have since been killed since Starmer declared his position on a ceasefire.

‘I support Zionism, without qualification’
Keir Starmer

Starmer does not want this war to end, despite his call for an immediate ceasefire.

Rather he supports what has been Biden’s position that Israel, instead of a large-scale invasion of Rafah, should instead surgically target Hamas’ leadership and forces.

Labour Friends of Israel explains:

We now urgently need an end to the fighting and a permanent and sustainable ceasefire in Gaza… This requires Hamas being disarmed and have no role in the future governance of Gaza.
